Surthy Resource Centre

Surthy Resource Centre is a nonprofit organization that works towards establishing a sustainable life for women in Kambainallur Village, Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu. Our aim is to empower women by providing them with adequate training and skills to work in various informal sectors. We create self-sustainable and self-sustaining, predominantly women, farmers and their families in and around all the locations where we operate.

OUR MISSION

Promotion of women-focused local-level participatory institutions managed by themselves through establishing linkages and networking with various resourceful institutions and service providers including government, corporates, social sector, and financial institutions.

Our Programs

Dairy Development

Dairy Development Scheme is a major focus area under its rural initiatives. Aims to extend support to agricultural laborers and wives of marginal farmers by providing cows and comprehensive support to create a regular secondary source of income in dairy management. We provide cows to the beneficiaries to generate additional source of income through sale of milk and its by-products in and around Kambainallur village.

Women Empowerment

Women empowerment reaches marginalized and socially excluded women with interventions in nutrition, health and livelihoods. The program empowers women through innovative community practices, empowers them to access health and bring about sustainable changes in the community, and supports them to become aware, skilled and financially independent.

Economic Empowerment of the Poor and Women

The scheme supports the development of micro and small enterprises (MSME) and increases employment and economic opportunities for the poor and women who sell fruits.

Pottery Making

Objective of the activity: - To increase the production and technical know-how of pottery artisans and to reduce the cost of production. - To increase income by providing skill development training and modern and automated equipment to pottery artisans. - To provide skill-development training to self-help groups of potters-artisans on products focused on garden pots, khullad, decorator products etc.

Livelihood Programs

Capacity building and training are essential forms of intervention to help communities identify activities that enhance their livelihood options. Rural women are energetic, strong, and purposeful. The challenges they constantly face hinder their personal development, economic empowerment, and community leadership. Rural women are the invisible pillar of community resilience and sustainability. Bamboo manufacturing helps empower rural women by giving them control over their economic resources.
